The scope of this conference, journal, book series, and online INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON RELIGION & SPIRITUALITY IN SOCIETY is as broad as possible in the field of religious studies. Together, these forums seek to create a space for the representation of any and all perspectives on the role of religion and spirituality in society. We also welcome a wide variety of disciplinary practices. The perspectives captured in these spaces range from committed within-religion views, to comparative or pan-religious views, to areligious empirical or theoretical readings of the role of religion and spirituality in society. Above all, they provide spaces for open dialogue on the sources of foundational or essential meaning.
We invite proposals for paper presentations, workshops/interactive sessions, posters/exhibits, or colloquia addressing one of the following themes:
– Theme 1: Religious Foundations
On the sources, modes, and manifestations of religiosity.
– Theme 2: Religious Community and Socialization
On learning religious ways, spiritual ways of life, and religious institutions.
– Theme 3: Religious Commonalities and Differences
On variations in religious forms and the relationships between different religions.
– Theme 4: The Politics of Religion
On the relations of religion to the state and civil society.
– 2025 Special Focus: “Universal Religious Symbols: Mutual Influences and Specific Relationships”
Symbols are especially tied to Religion. All religions, one way or another, contain a wide variety of symbols such us figures, ceremonies and rituals, temples, sacred sites, myths and historical accounts, among many others. They are the vehicle of the transcendence manifestation, so that their meaning never run out…

In-Person Presenter Passes are for those who want maximum flexibility, exposure, and planning certainty. It allows the delegate to present in both the place-based and online components, ensuring participation whatever the circumstances. Online-Only Presenter Passes are for those who know they will not be attending the place-based component but still want to present, view all content, and engage in meaningful discussion. The choice to participate online could also be a moral decision – for the planet, for security, or when the financial burden of travel is too great.
